Palletizing Simplified: A User-Friendly Guide

Palletizing is a crucial process that prepares incoming inventory items for storage within a warehouse. This preparation might involve internal packing, wrapping, or placing items into storage baskets. Palletizing has the distinct advantage of allowing you to organize these pallets in specific locations within the warehouse. This way, the system can quickly locate and identify the products whenever you need to pick them.

Using Arka's 'Palletise' Feature

Arka simplifies this process through its 'Palletise' option found within the 'Inventory Operations' tab.

Two Approaches to Palletizing

There are two common ways to palletize items:

1. Reusable Baskets: This method is suitable for smaller items that are always stored in reusable baskets within the warehouse. To use this approach effectively, you'll need a permanent barcode or QR code affixed to each basket.

2. Large Items: For larger items that are wrapped and stored without reusable baskets, the process is similar, but you won't need barcode or QR codes on the baskets themselves.

Getting Started

In the 'Palletise' screen, you'll see a list of items that have been received but haven't been palletized yet. To streamline your search, you can use the 'Filter By' option. Just enter the product name, product code, supplier, or reference number (like a purchase order number) in the filter box and hit the enter button.

Once you've found the product you want to place in a basket, you can update the quantities to reflect how many will go into that particular basket. After that, click the 'Palletise' button and scan the barcode or QR code on the basket.

Organizing Your Baskets

Once all products are placed in different baskets, you can transport these baskets to various BIN locations within the warehouse where they need to be stored.

Finalizing the Process

Before placing the baskets into the designated BINs in the warehouse, there's one more crucial step: 'Putting Away.' Click the 'Put Away' option in the inventory operations screen. This will prompt you to scan the Pallet No and BIN No.

Simply scan the Barcode or QR code on the basket into the 'Pallet No' box and the Barcode or QR code of the BIN into the 'BIN No' box. This finalizes your receiving and putting away process.

Second Approach

In the second scenario, all the processes remain the same as described above. However, instead of using a barcode or QR code on the baskets, you'll print a new pallet label and attach it to the pallet.

By following these straightforward steps, you can efficiently manage the palletizing process using Arka's user-friendly features.
